Labour has made our streets safer and improved access to transport in Knowsley. During 2007/08:
* 98.7% of street lights are working at any one time in the borough
* 98.3% of priority repairs are carried out within 24 hours
* Over £4 million has been invested in maintenance and improvement of roads across Knowsley
* £900,000 has been invested in the neighbourhood safety and security schemes such as safety schemes, traffic calming, parking and access.
* £800,000 has been invested in sustainable access schemes such as walking, cycling and aids to public transport.
* Knowsley Council has been awarded Beacon status for “Improving Accessibility”. This helps people without cars to access work, education and training, healthcare and new employment opportunities.
