  Improved housing

In 2007/08, Labour-led Knowsley Council has:

* Started work on North Huyton NDC. a £55.8 million investment to the North Huyton area. This ten year programme will provide the area with new homes, health centres, community buildings, schools and a specialist construction skills and training centre; as well as providing essential services

* Installed cavity /loft insulation in 2000 homes

* Made over 120 dangerous buildings safe

* Introduced a Family Intervention Project reduce homeless and anti-social behaviour

* Developed a nationally-recognised action plan for tackling youth homelessness, working with different agencies and departments in the borough.

* Won Heritage Lottery Funding for the Conservation Interpretation and Skills project to teach school pupils and young construction students traditional skills to maintain the historic environment

Since Labour came to office in 1997, across the country we have brought over 1 million social homes up to standard.
