* 27 more consultants between 1997 and 2005
* 111 more doctors in training between 1997 and 2005
* 103 more nurses between 1997 and 2005
Knowsley PCT has a £105,400,000 increase in cash terms between 2004 and 2008
Across the borough, this has led to people living longer:
* 2.4 years increase in male life expectancy from 71.5 to 73.9
* 1 year increase in female life expectancy from 77.4 to 78.4
Since Labour came to office in 1997, across the country we have:
* Record number of students in higher education
* 85,000 more nurses
* 32,000 more doctors
* Brought back matrons to hospital wards
* NHS Direct offering free convenient patient advice
* Inpatient waiting lists down by over half a million since 1997
* Free breast cancer screening for all women aged between 50-70
* Heart disease deaths down by 150,000 and cancer deaths down by 50,000
